11/10/2014 - By Marea Edynak
On November 11 we honor with thanks and prayers all of the brave men and women who served our country. May their service help perpetuate peace through goodwill and mutual understanding between nations.
On November 11, 1921, an unidentified American soldier killed in the war was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. on the same day, unidentified soldiers were laid to rest at Westminster Abbey in London and at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
In New York City the Veterans Day commemoration begins with a wreath laying ceremony at the Eternal Flame in Madison Square Park. The parade begins at 11 AM and lasts until 2 PM. It starts on Fifth Avenue at 23rd Street and continues north along Fifth Avenue to 59th Street.
