French Comfort Food in a Cosy Atmosphere

2/12/2013 - By Marea Edynak

Le Parisien Bistro

When you are looking for a neighborhood restaurant that is off the tourist map and want some good French cooking, try this almost secret little Bistro in Midtown East.  The friendly staff at Le Parisien will give you a warm welcome in this delightful little   unpretentious restaurant. And it won’t break the bank

The limited menu has all of the traditional bistro fare including Onion Soup, Duck Pate, and Endive Salad. Appetizers are from $7 to $14. Entrees are from $17 to $24 and include Moules Mariniere (and 3 other ways), Steak Frites, Roasted Chicken and other favorites. Specials of the day usually include Fresh Fish.  Desserts are delicious.

The small and reasonably priced wine list is on a blackboard on the wall. French wines by the glass are $8 to $12. Bottles are prices from $29 with many choices in the $30’s. Some higher.

Sunday Brunch features a $12.95 Prix Fixe menu and includes a Mimosa, Sangria or coffee. Other choices are available as well.

Tip for Travelers: The restaurant is tiny and gets crowded on weekends. Be sure to call for a reservation so you won’t be disappointed.

Le Parisien is at 163 East 33rd Street between Lexington and Third Avenues. 212 889 5489
