Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

5/5/2013 - By Heather Paul

People come from all over the world to enjoy the wonders of the changing seasons at the famous Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Today the cherry blossoms are still in full bloom on one side of Cherry Lane.  They disappear at the signs of strong winds and then the grounds are covered in the pink blossoms and it is magical.

Coming around near the Garden Show there is a beautiful pond with monumentally beautiful water lilies and the inhabitants, the giant goldfish

When you come to the Lilacs the aroma of Provence precedes seeing them in person.   There are intimate areas, a creek and bridges that beg for photographs to be taken.   Daffodil Hill bloomed a little earlier this year.

The Gardens transport you off of the busy streets and into a world of their own.

Tip for Travelers and Manhattanites: Tuesdays are Free

How to Get there: The subway is right outside their door bordering their neighbor, the Brooklyn Museum.  If you are in Manhattan you have two choices.   The 2 or 3 lines stop at the Museum and the 4 and 5 lines, if you go from Atlantic Avenue to Franklin and get off go up the stairs and down and go one stop back on the 2 or 3 you will get there just the same.  It's best to take the 2 or 3.
