Art in The Park

5/24/2013 - By Marea Edynak

Brooklyn artist Orly Genger used 1.4 Million feet of Nautical Lines (rope) to create stunning undulating sculptures in Madison Square Park. She calls them simply, “Red Yellow and Blue”.

Do you know how to measure 1.4 million feet? It’s almost 20 times the length of Manhattan.

The ropes are intricately hand knotted, layered and painted with covered in over 3,500 gallons of paint. They weigh over 100,000 pounds.

The artist collected used rope from hundreds of miles up and down the Eastern seaboard and repurposed them into 3 exciting installations.

Come to the Park and enjoy them from now until September 8, 2013
